  1. Project Management.

    • A major function of a producer is managing the project. Planning for all stages of the production process, starting in pre-production and following through until post production. Managing the project as a whole to make sure that the department heads can focus on their area of expertise.

  2. Budgeting / Scheduling.

    • Commercial producers will create and follow budgets and schedules for each project, ensuring that resources get allocated and deadlines are kept.

  3. Creative Input.

    • Producers work with the directors, casting directors, and the marketing team to develop and conceive concepts that align with the overall creative vision.

  4. Crew Management.

    • Producers work closely with a team of professionals in house and manage hiring professionals out of house. Including cinematographer, editors, production assistants and casting directors

  5. Logistics Coordination.

    • Responsible for the coordination of logistics including locations, set design, equipment rentals and permits, producers oversee the nitty gritty details of a production.

Overall, a producer plays a critical role in every type of production. Combining a creative eye with logistical expertise to ensure the quality of a production, from its conception to the final product.
