Aura Casting is all about matching the right talent to the right role, but how does that happen?

Casting for film, theater, commercials, television, modeling and/or music videos is a multifaceted process but it typically involves several of these key steps.

  • Casting Calls

    • A casting call is a notice of what roles are available and the desired characteristics for each role. These can be sent out in email lists, social media and casting websites.

  • Auditions

    • Auditions happen after the casting call, testing the performers acting and/or modeling skills. Auditions are for casting directors to see your talent and see if you are a correct match for the role.

  • Callbacks

    • Sometimes in the audition process, callbacks happen. Callbacks are an opportunity for the casting team to see how actors perform in more detail and sometimes other production members will attend the call backs as well.

  • Screen Tests

    • A screen test is typically just for television and film roles. Screen tests are conducted to see how an actor looks on camera in the filming environment.

  • Chemistry Tests

    • Chemistry tests usually are for testing romantic chemistry but can also be used to test friend or family chemistry between multiple actors as well.

  • Final Selections

    • A final selection is made after a casting team thoroughly has reviewed auditions, call backs and/or screen tests. A selection of the actors who best fit the roles are brought together.

Selecting talent is a process that is much more complex than one list can show. The name of the game is finding people who fit the criteria of a role while also bringing their own unique qualities that make the character their own. Here at Aura Casting we strive to demystify the talent selection process.
