Frequently Asked Questions from our prospective producers and directors.

  • Neither! We are a casting service. The only reason we list “casting agency” on our home page is because SEO loves it. An agency takes commissions from the actors, but a casting service take pre-negotiated flat rate for the entirety of the project.

  • There are several ways to get started with us:

    • We have a client intake form that asks you for everything we need to know on our end to get going on the project!

    • We have an email: info@auracasting.com if you’d like to send the project details there

    • Give us a buzz: 510 255 5217

    • Send a carrier pigeon

  • Simply put: we just do a really good job. We are really focused on delivering exceptional talent options on tight deadlines. Our goal is to include everyone, all walks of life, all faces of humanity.

  • Casting gets paid a flat rate for pursuing the project, and the talent rate is the payment talent receives for the project (including agency fee)

Helpful to think of it 3 line items

    • Casting Rate

    • Talent Rate

    • Agency Rate (+20% of talent rate if non-union)

  • No two projects are the same! It is difficult to come up with a fixed price, so we offer custom support for every project. The best approach is to reach out to us for a quote.

  • Good Q! We advise on release forms, but we do not generate releases - mainly because the production isn’t “ours”. We are merely augmenting the process

  • Collaborative, creative, honest, and personable. We're here to guide the process, bring ideas to the table, and ensure you have a great experience throughout!

  • Yes! We can discuss over phone or by email. It really comes down to the placement of the media and it’s duration.

  • We deliver castings to you in an organized software, including information such as headshots, self tapes, talent availability, or any important information that pertains to the project!

  • That all depends on the project's needs, but we typically need a little bit of time to gather the best options that tailor to your project's needs. The fastest we’ve cast is 12 hours, but that was a one off… Ideally, we like 1 to 2 weeks. But again, it depends on what the project is.

  • We find talent through talent agencies in the area you are casting in, social media, or on our database of thousands of real people, models, and actors.

  • Yes! We have a payroll company that helps us pay out talent directly or the talent agency. That comes as an add-on fee.

  • We cast presenters, actors, models, real people, real families, hand and parts models, skilled performers (such as surfers, roller skaters, etc)

  • Yes! In fact, one time we were tasked with casting a six month year old baby boy. (that was a toughie!) We can cast any age, any demographic, and all walks of life.

  • It’s a good question! You may totally be able to cast on your own DEPENDING on what the project requires. If it’s two background actors.. yea, you can find those in 5 minutes on the street. If it’s 5’10” Polynesian bellydancer with red hair, it may take you a bit longer… That’s when we come into action. (although, that example may be tough to pull off for anyone)

  • We are not a talent agency. We are not a casting agency. We are a casting service that works WITH talent agencies to deliver an exceptional package of talent options to choose from.

  • No, we are not a talent agency. We are a casting service. There is a difference. We do not rep actors, neither do we take commission from them. What we do is “cast” actors. That means, we hire them.

  • No. We get our money from the production company, not from the actors. We simply send you audition notifications.

  • No, we have actors and models who live all over the world! Most of our projects are in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we cast in other places too.
