Here at Aura Casting, we work on projects with all types of talent like dancers, models and actors. But we also love working with real people!

Casting “non actors” can give a project an authentic energy, or maybe a project needs a certain skill set. For whatever the reason, we love connecting real people to productions.

Keep reading to learn how real people can be cast in commercials.

  1. Identify Your Skills:

    • Identifying what unique skills and niche knowledge you have will make you able to identify what commercial castings to be applying for.

  2. Casting Calls:

    • Looking for casting calls that are specifically looking for a skill, look and/or lifestyle can be a great way to find yourself in a commercial. You can also look for casting calls that highlight they are looking for “real” individuals and non actors.

  3. Materials:

    • Gathering a headshot, resume and video materials will make submitting for castings a breeze.

  4. Self Submissions:

    • Virtual auditions and/or casting calls will typically have a self submission function where anyone can submit headshots, videos and other elements that highlight the skill or personality casting is looking for.

  5. Network:

    • Networking with professionals in commercial shoots, video production and casting can align you with people who could provide opportunities and new knowledge.

  6. Social Media:

    • Many casting submissions for non actors are posted on social media to reach a large sum of people, following casting directors, casting companies and video production companies will help get your eyes on the right posts.

By focusing on your authentic self and looking out for opportunities that align with your skills and interest, you can land a role in commercials that showcase your talents.
