The biggest night in television happened Sunday night, the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards aired September 15, 2024.

“Shōgun” led the count, taking home 18 total awards. Taking second place was “The Bear” with 11 total wins. Taking home the Outstanding Drama Series award, Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding leading Actor in a Drama Series.

Speaking of “The Bear”  , last year FX’s hit show broke the record for wins in a single season for a comedy, taking home 10 awards, Sunday night it broke its own record and took home 11. Awards won this year include Best Directing for a Comedy Series, Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, Best Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.


Taking home Best Limited Series was Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer”. Baby Reindeer also took home Best Leading Actor in a Limited Series and Best Leading Actress in a Limited Series. 

While “The Bear was the front runner for winning Best Comedy Series, Max’s “Hacks” took home that award. “Hacks: also took home best writing in a comedy series, and Best Leading Actress in a Comedy Series. 

Jodie Foster also made history by winning the first Emmy award in her career thus far. The actress took home Best Leading Actress in a Limited Series for “True Detective: Night Country”.

Another first time Emmy Award Winner includes Lamorne Morris who won for his role in FX’s Fargo. Lamorne took home Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series.

Billy Crudup took home Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for “The Morning Show” and Elizabeth Debicki took home Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for “The Crown”. 

Outstanding reality competition went to “The Traitors”, Best Scripted Variety Series went to “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver”, and Best Writing for a Variety Special went to “Alex Edelman: Just for Us”. 

“Ripley” took home the award for Best Directing of a Limited Series and Best Talk Series went to “The Daily Show”.
