Self Tape Workshop

On May 14, 2021, Aura Casting gave an hour long workshop on how actors might navigate the self tape process - a very useful skill in modern times. (Click on the image to see the recording)

Similar to getting new headshots or updating your reel, understanding how to properly self tape is an essential part of being a professional, commercial actor. Aura Casting, a team of casting directors in San Francisco, held an hour long workshop on the technique of self taping, covering every step along the way.

  • How to set up and shoot your self tape on a camera phone

  • How to do a quick, simple edit , via your phone or on your laptop

  • How to upload your self tape to YouTube

  • How to share that link on Aura Casting audition forms

A big problem we’ve seen in auditions is that actors forget to do is create an unlisted YouTube link. They often make a “private” link which doesn’t allow anyone to view the file except the account owner. Unlisted allows for anyone to see the video file, but is not published on the user’s YouTube page - so the perfect video setting for auditions. We cannot stress how important this is!

We are committed to helping actors nail their self tapes! If you missed the workshop from Aura Casting, a casting agency in San Francisco, then please check out the recording by clicking on the photo above. We welcome an ongoing dialogue about self tapes - so feel free to drop us a note anytime at info@auracasting.com.
