New US locations for movie making

Many people believe that to work in film you have to be located in Los Angeles or New York, but here at Aura Casting, we know firsthand that a successful production can happen anywhere.

Take a look below at some of the up-and-coming U.S. cities for film production.

  • Atlanta, Georgia.

    • “The Hollywood of the South”. Georgia has seen this burst in film production due to the state’s generous tax incentives, diverse landscape, and wide talent pool.

  • New Orleans, Louisiana.

    • The attraction to New Orleans can be given to its unique European-style architecture, local talent, and tax incentives. “American Horror Story”, “Interview with the Vampire”, “Greenbook”, “Now You See Me”, “12 Years a Slave” and more have called New Orleans home.

  • Nashville, Tennessee.

    • Although Nashville is known for being a music hub, the pool of talent has made it also become a film hub, as well as the state’s film incentive and iconic cityscape.

  • Portland, Oregon.

    • Known for being an independent film scene, the city has seen larger-scale productions due to the state’s film incentives and picturesque landscapes. Productions such as “Into the Wild”, “Stand by Me”, “The Flash”, “Twilight” and more have used Oregon as their home base.

  • Albuquerque, New Mexico.

    • Also due to the state’s tax incentives, Albuquerque is home to major studios like Netflix.

  • Austin, Texas

    • Due to the city’s vibrant arts scene, diverse cityscape, robust film festival scene and competitive film incentives, Austin has been home to several productions in recent years such as, “Fear the Walking Dead”, “Friday Night Lights”, “Boyhood” and more.

  • Miami, Florida.

    • Due to its favorable weather, diverse locations and local talent, Miami as turned Florida into a favorable city for productions.

  • Charlotte, North Carolina.

    • With a mixture of rural and urban settings, tax credits and local talent, Charlotte has been home to many productions such as, “The Hunger Games”, “Homeland”, “Talladega Nights”, “Sully” and more.
