Indie Film-Making 101
So you wanna make a film. Why not!? Now, more than ever it’s possible for almost anyone, to make a film.
Indie filmmaking provides an outlet for creatives to tell stories with creative freedom. Here at Aura Casting, we love to support indie filmmaking by finding you your stars. We’ve also compiled a short list to get your picture in motion!
Develop your idea.
A good place to start is with a brainstorming session, from there you can flesh out your idea in a script.
Budgeting.
After you know what your script will require you to have, time to crunch out the numbers of how much money it will take you to achieve your vision. Example costs include location fees, props, equipment rental, costumes, etc.
Funding.
Now that you know how much money you’ll need, you can explore different funding options. These could include grants, crowdfunding, sponsorships, and/or savings.
Pre-production.
Pre-production is the planning of everything in your film. This includes shot lists, storyboards, casting, scouting locations, and securing permits, and gathering equipment.
Casting.
Aura Casting’s specialty. We create casting calls and hold auditions and callbacks to find the right talent to bring your script to life.
Shooting.
This is the time you bring your idea to life, working with your actors and crew.
Post-production.
After you shoot, time to edit! Taking raw footage and editing all the pieces together including, music, color correction, and sound effects.
